Just to guard that name and fame, firms and companies go forward with high-priced registrations and fees. Talking about heavy lifting and sweat brings us to the latest news, the World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) stars Ricky Morton and Robert Gibson has lately sent in their trademark application for registration of their tag-team name “Rock ‘N’ Roll Express”.
The tag here is a historical one with its foundation back in 1980’s. The professional wrestling players Ricky Morton and Robert Gibson debuted under Rock ‘N’ Roll Express in 1983 in Memphis. Of course, that was just a start and the duo went on and on with their commendable matches in Universal Wrestling Federation followed by the famous Jim Crockett Production and later on for the American Wrestling Association. The team faced a backlash owing to inside betrayals however came back stronger in 1992 and since then the duo is inseparable. In March 2017, the team was admitted to the WWE Hall of Fame.
On June 30, the duo with an intention to safeguard the value attached to their prestigious tag approached the United States Patent and Trademark Office with a trademark application for registration of almost 40 years old “Rock ‘N’ Roll Express” tag. Application bearing number 90028600 indicates goods under International Class 41 including “Entertainment services, namely, providing professional wrestling and sports exhibitions, shows, and performances by professional manager, wrestlers, promoter, and entertainers rendered live and through all forms of broadcast media, including television and radio, and via the internet or commercial online services; Providing wrestling and sporting interviews, news, entertainment, and information through all forms of broadcast media, including television and radio, and via the internet or commercial online services.”
Further submissions suggest the mark was first used as early as 01.01.1984 by the applicant or a related company or a licensee or predecessor in interest and has been in commercial domain since then. Good news for the duo, no other trademarks or any existing application for the mark is found in the USPTO records. A potential registration is expected in the name of WWE Hall of Famers very-very soon.
